Description

Rodríguez Sanzo · DO Rueda

Verdejo from century-old vines in the Segovia part of the Rueda DO, at 800 to 900 metres, among the highest vineyards in the appellation. The grapes macerate for twelve to sixteen hours at 10 °C before pressing. It ferments in new 300-litre French oak barrels and rests there on the lees for six to nine months, with regular bâtonnage.

The winery

Rodríguez Sanzo

Family winery founded in 2003 in Valladolid by Javier Rodríguez and María Sanzo. They work with four appellations in northern Spain (Rioja, Toro, Rueda and Ribera del Duero), each with its own signature grape. In 2022 they took over a historic winery in Toro, next to the Santo Domingo convent. They practise sustainable viticulture and, on some estates, biodynamics.
