Description

Mestres · DO Cava

A rosé from trepat, monastrell and garnacha, the only rosé cava in the house that sees oak. The base wine spends four months in barrel, then the cava rests forty-two months on its lees. Brut nature, with no added sugar. The time in barrel leaves a toasty, balsamic backdrop that gives it structure.

The winery

Mestres

A family house in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia with documented roots going back to 1312 and twenty-eight generations of winegrowers. The first bottle of Mestres cava dates from 1928, made with grapes from the 1925 harvest by Josep Mestres Manobens. They farm around twenty hectares of organic vines with an average age of sixty-eight years, and make about 150,000 bottles a year. The house is known for its long ageing and for a brut nature made without dosage liqueur.
