Description

Martínez Corta · DOCa Rioja

Tempranillo from the family vineyards in Uruñuela and Cenicero, in Rioja Alta, on poor limestone and clay soils. It ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel and then spends four months in American oak barrels, enough for the wood to add depth without masking the fruit. It is the winery’s most direct, fruit-driven wine.

The winery

Martínez Corta

A family winery in Uruñuela, in the heart of Rioja Alta, between the Ebro and Najerilla rivers. The family has had roots here since the late 19th century, when Catalina Martínez settled in the village, and today the fourth generation runs it. It owns about 80 hectares of its own vineyards around Uruñuela and Cenicero, on poor limestone and clay soils, south-facing and at around 500 metres above sea level.
