Description

Domaine de Montahuc · IGP Pays d'Oc

Muscat à Petits Grains vinified dry, from vines planted at 280 to 300 metres on very limestone-rich, stony, shallow soil. The vines are over twenty-five years old, bush-trained and unirrigated. The grapes are hand-picked and the wine ferments at very low temperature, with a short ageing in stainless steel tank.

The winery

Domaine de Montahuc

Estate in Saint-Jean-de-Minervois (Hérault), at the top of Montahuc, at 640 metres, on thin, very stony limestone soils. Michel Poudou and his Spanish partners Julián López Olaso and María José Peidró Montaner bought it in 2005: a farmhouse and 7 hectares of vines, farmed organically since 1990. Known at first for its Muscat de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois, it now also makes dry wines. Since 2022, Chozas Carrascal has been its sole owner.
